Dear Parents,

The purpose of this blog is to inform Southern Baptists about breaking news and thoughts about the homeschooling movement. This will encompass everything from homeschoolers in the headlines, news in the Southern Baptist Convention, Southern Baptists speaking out against the public school system, and more. Essentially, if Southern Baptist homeschoolers would find it timely, pertinent, interesting, or thoughtful, you’ll find it here!

Over the last few years, Southern Baptists around the country have started a grassroots movement made up of concerned parents and pastors. This group is dedicated to spreading the word about the public school system’s failure. These brave parents have removed their children from the public school and taken matters into their own hands.

A recent Southern Baptist Convention Resolution gave a boost to the movement. By this time, it was more than just a grassroots faction. Now, some of the most influential leaders of the SBC were calling for a mass exodus from the public school.

When I first read about this movement, God touched my heart. I knew that millions of young Southern Baptist children would need an alternative to the public school. So I created The Southern Baptist Academy to meet this need. The Academy exists to provide Southern Baptist homeschool parents a unique combination of the control and affordability of homeschooling with the academic quality of a teacher-led private school.

In addition to serving the Southern Baptist community through the launch of this new online school, I will be posting in this blog periodically in order to help keep Southern Baptists updated on education news items of interest.
