Welcome to our State Home School Requirements page. Many states require that parents compile a comprehensive portfolio in order to legally home school. A home schooling portfolio includes academic progress, curriculum information, work samples, attendance information, and grades. We invite you to review the list below to see if what your state requires.
If your state isn’t listed, we urge you to consider the need for a portfolio for other reasons. For instance, if your home schooler hopes to attend college, these portfolios are essential for admissions interviews. It’s also important for transferring to a different school. Lastly, state home schooling law changes frequently. It’s a good strategy to have documentation on hand just in case. The Southern Baptist Academy offers fully-featured portfolios to all of our students. These home schooling portfolios add an extra layer of legitimacy to your child’s home schooling experience.
